ラトヴィア出身の俊英指揮者、ネルソンスと彼が音楽監督を務めるボストン交響楽団のショスタコーヴィチ・シリーズ「スターリンの影の下のショスタコーヴィチ」第3弾! シリーズ第1弾の「ショスタコーヴィチ: 交響曲第10番、他」 (UCCG-1709)は、第58回グラミー賞クラシック部門"ベスト・オーケストラル・パフォーマンス部門"を、第2弾「交響曲5番、第8番、第9番、他」 (UCCG-1741/2)もまた第59回グラミー賞の同部門を受賞した。「スターリンの影の下のショスタコーヴィチ」シリーズ～DGとボストン交響楽団はショスタコーヴィチの交響曲第5番～第10番に管弦楽作品を加えた5枚のアルバムの契約を発表したが、第1弾の絶賛を受けて交響曲全曲録音へ企画変更した。全米ビッグ5の一角である名門ボストン響はクーセヴィツキーやミュンシュが育て、小澤征爾が1973年～2002年黄金期を築いた人気のオーケストラ。若く才能溢れる音楽監督を迎え新たな時代を築く。今回は2017年の来日公演で圧倒的な名演で度肝を抜いた交響曲第11番と、マーラーの影響が色濃く編成も最大で技術的にも至難の第4番を収録。
