I would give this show many more stars if I could, but I am sadly limited to 5. Hoshiai Hitoyo is the most heart-wrenchingly beautiful and perfect show I have ever seen - bar none. Though it contains some Kyushu (I think) dialect, the Japanese is not daunting (especially for a historical piece) and even non-Japanese speakers will be able to understand the main plot points through the body language of the actors. A fan translation exists online for those who care to look for it. The sets are simple but the clever way in which this show was performed made it visually stunning - the Blu-ray copy is worth the extra cost for the better resolution. It is impossible to say who performed best among the 3 main actors. Sagiri Seina, Sakihi Miyu and Nozomi Fuuto were perfect in every way and more. Though all three are established dramatic actresses, each conveyed more meaning in one gesture than several lines of dialogue. Every movement, every step, every word spoken was filled with meaning and emotion. They could not have done a better job. In summary, Hoshiai Hitoyo is a truly amazing experience. Be warned though, it is tragedy and will make even the hardest heart break. Watch this with a large box of tissues.
