1960～70年代前半をジミ・ヘンドリックスやジェームス・ブラウン、マイルス・デイビスらと共に、人種やジャンルの壁を越えて支持を得たスライ&ザ・ファミリー・ストーン。今回発見されたライヴ音源は、アルバム『ライフ』と『スタンド!』の間、1968年10月4日・5日の2日間 (4ステージ)にわたり、NYの伝説的ライヴハウス、フィルモア・イーストで録音されたもの。リーダーのスライ・ストーンもまだ20代半ばで、若々しいエネルギーに満ち溢れ、代表曲「Dance to the Music」や、オーティス・レディングの「I Can't Turn You Loose」などを演奏している。当初ライヴ盤として発売される予定だったが、なんらかの理由でお蔵入りになり46年が経過していたという貴重な音源。日本盤はBlu-spec CD2。デジパック仕様。解説: 岩間慎一 (元bmr編集長)、英文ライナーノーツ訳掲載、歌詞・対訳付き。
