東野圭吾による衝撃と感涙の《禁断》のミステリー! 堤幸彦監督により遂に映画化! 主演 篠原涼子 新境地がここに! 西島秀俊、坂口健太郎、川栄李奈ら超豪華俳優陣が集結! ――二人の子を持つ播磨薫子(篠原涼子)とIT機器メーカーを経営する夫・和昌(西島秀俊)。すでに別居状態の夫婦は、娘の小学校受験が終わったら、離婚することになっていた。そんなある日、二人の元に悲報が届く。娘の瑞穂(稲垣来泉)がプールで溺れ、意識不明になったというのだ。医師から「脳死の可能性が高く回復の見込みはない」と言われ、二人は「脳死」を死として受け入れ、臓器提供を希望するか、心臓死をただ待つのかという、生かすか、死を受け入れるか、究極の選択を迫られる・・・。
