Dir en Grey is like wine or a violin: they get better and better with age. Actually, the music was WAAAY heavy for me at first and it sounded iffy. But the album really grew on me and it's one of my favorites by them. Overall, the album is dark, loud, thrashy, chaotic, and (dare I say) full of hate. Almost in all the tracks Kyo is screaming, growling, screeching, you name it. The strings and drums hit hard and are relentless as well. There are, however, moments of peace and beauty in songs like [Concieved Sorrow] and that one song with the really long Japanese name. Some of my favorite darker songs are [Rotting Root] and [GRIEF]. The album as a whole is very cohesive and I love that it creates its own world. The unplugged disc is a special treat. The unplugged versions of these 3 songs are beautiful and add a decadent side to this album. The packaging is top notch. It comes with a slipcase and is housed in a cardboard sleeve. The artwork is excellent and really eerie. The booklet is nice because it's big, but one can barely make out the text because every thing is super dark. A wierd thing too is that there are english translations, but they are in reverse. There's also a sticker included C: This release is great because it is able to generate it's own little universe through the music, artwork, packaging, etc. Dir en Grey are surely unique for being able to create this sort of atmosphere and I can feel it to the very marrow of my bones.

Great album, one of my favorite. But... When will this item be availabile eventually? And why is "Whithering to death" out of sale?
Not many people liked this album. They say that Diru is either selling out or sound to "American". But I think this album is a good example of the bands growth. I think its a great new album from a wonderful band. The album is really good and the bonus disk is beautiful.
well this album was very heavy but i loved it and i thnk this album is a big F*** YOU to all the DeG haters just becuase there is a lot of insults lol
It is NO question that Dir en grey just knows how to make good music. But whether or not you would like this cd is really based on what kind of music you prefer. Personally, I've been a fan of Diru for a long time, and The Marrow of a Bone is more American rock influenced. It's very heavy but still a good cd if you like that particular genre. It deff not a bad cd by any means but personally not my favorite.
