1997年に放送されセンセーションを巻き起こしたアニメ『少女革命ウテナ』が放送20周年を記念して2018年3月にミュージカル化! ミュージカル『少女革命ウテナ～白き薔薇のつぼみ～』ではウテナがアンシーと出会い、桐生冬芽や西園寺莢一など生徒会メンバーと"薔薇の花嫁"を奪い合う決闘を描く。脚本・演出は舞台『男水!』やミュージカル『ヘタリア～In the new world～』などを手掛けた気鋭の演出家・吉谷光太郎が担当。さらにミュージカル化にあたり、スーパーバイザーに『少女革命ウテナ』の生みの親である幾原邦彦監督が参加!
