Live At The Fillmore East October 4th & 5th 1968 [4CD/Import Disc]

The recordings were recorded at the legendary Fillmore East in New York City over two days (four stages) on October 4 and 5, 1968, between the albums "Life" and "Stand! Leader Sly Stone was still in his mid-twenties and full of youthful energy, performing his signature tune "Dance to the Music" and Otis Redding's "I Can't Turn You Loose". A limited edition 2LP set of excerpts from the show was released at Record Store Days held around the world on April 18, and has just become the talk of the town among enthusiasts. The documentary film "Sly Stone" has also been released in Japan, and there is a growing momentum to re-evaluate the band.

未発表ライヴ発掘! 若き日のスライ・ストーンを知る貴重な音源。1960～70年代前半をジミ・ヘンドリックスやジェームス・ブラウン、マイルス・デイビスらと共に、人種やジャンルの壁を越えて支持を得たスライ&ザ・ファミリー・ストーン。今回発見されたライヴ音源は、アルバム『ライフ』と『スタンド!』の間、1968年10月4日・5日の2日間 (4ステージ)にわたり、NYの伝説的ライヴハウス、フィルモア・イーストで録音されたもの。リーダーのスライ・ストーンもまだ20代半ばで、若々しいエネルギーに満ち溢れ、代表曲「Dance to the Music」や、オーティス・レディングの「I Can't Turn You Loose」などを演奏している。当初ライヴ盤として発売される予定だったが、なんらかの理由でお蔵入りになり46年が経過していたという貴重な音源だ。4月18日に世界中で開催されたレコード・ストア・デイでは、このライヴ音源の中から抜粋した2枚組LP盤が限定発売され、マニアの間で話題になったばかり。また、ドキュメンタリー映画『スライ・ストーン』も日本で公開されるなど、再評価の機運が高まっている。
