Janome umbrellas are, along with bangasa umbrellas, the most commonly used umbrellas in Japan. They are slender and light, with a dyed bamboo and mino paper frame. The name janome (snake's eye) comes from the pattern of the umbrella when viewed from above. Umbrellas feature a two-step metal spring on the handle to adjust the shade opening depending on the strongness of the rain/wind and natural wisteria vine and brass-style handle.
