Description

[Machine Translation] The god of thunder in the sky, carrying a roaring drum on his back, will be sculpted as a movable god figure! The god of thunder is very familiar to Japanese people, as the folding screen paintings by Sotatsu Tawaraya are so well known. Surprisingly, there are only a few three-dimensional works of the god. This time, under the direction of Takayuki Takeya, one of Japan's leading sculptors, the god of thunder flying in the sky is now included in Takeya's lineup of free standing figurines. The god of thunder, who soars through the sky and roars thunder by beating his drum, has been sculpted using advanced modeling techniques and a revolver joint for full articulation. The color scheme of the figure's muscular body, with its skin dyed a deep red, gives it a sense of dynamism and power that cannot be experienced in paintings. The fluttering robe and clothing are made of a soft molded material that does not interfere with the clearance for movement. A taiko drum, which is used to sound the thunder, is included, as well as palm and fist parts with different facial expressions. The taiko drum, which symbolizes Kaminari-sama, is connected to the waist with a revolving joint. ( Raijin ) The god of thunder originated in ancient India and, as the name suggests, is a deified version of the natural phenomenon of thunder, but in Japan, the wind god and thunder god are paired as the guardian gods of Buddhism. In Japan, the wind god and thunder god are regarded as a pair of guardian deities of Buddhism.
