Tenugui is unique Japanese dyed cloth, originally hand towel. Can be used as home decoration, table runner, wrapping, sewing material, etc. Kabuki is one of the traditional Japanese performing arts with 400 years of history. It is an all-round theatrical art consisting of drama, dance and music. "Kagamijishi" has traditionally been played in the New Year's period. Swinging of long hair by Shishi (lion spirit) is the highlight point of the play.

絵てぬぐい 大城戸建雄 鏡獅子
長唄舞踊『春興鏡獅子』。江戸城大奥の新春恒例行事「鏡曳き」の余興として、踊りを披露する女小姓の弥生。獅子頭を手にすると、獅子の精が乗り移り、引きずられるように花道を引っ込む。後段では獅子に変じ、長い毛を振り回して踊り狂う姿が見せ場。可憐な女小姓と豪快な獅子、対照的な２役を踊り分けなければならない難役で、九代目團十郎から受け継いだ六代目尾上菊五郎が人気曲に仕上げた。
