【こちらの商品は[Blu-ray Audio]です。CDプレイヤーでは再生できません。映像は収録されておりません。】 2人の子どもを相次いで失うというドヴィルザーク自身の悲しい経験に基づいた「スターバト・マーテル」とは違い、この「レクイエム」はイギリスのバーミンガム音楽祭からの新作依頼に応えて作曲された。曲は1890年の1月から10月にかけて作曲され、全曲は素朴で美しいメロディに満ち溢れており、曲の冒頭には彼が敬愛したバッハの最高傑作「ロ短調ミサ」からの引用もあるなど、渾身の力が込められた大作。通常の典礼文とは一部変更が加えられているため、教会で演奏するよりも、あくまでも演奏会用の作品として位置づけられている。 [演奏] クリスティアーネ・リボー (ソプラノ)、エヴァ・ヴォラク (アルト)、ダニエル・キルヒ (テノール)、ヤヌス・モナルチャ (バス)、ワルシャワ・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団&合唱団 (合唱指揮: ヘンリク・ヴォジナロフスキ)、アントニ・ヴィト (指揮)
