Slow Life Traveler Okinawa Yubinsen de Iku Rito

This was not at all what I expected - I had hoped for more of Ting Ting's virtuoso PiPa playing but it is a documentation of a holiday around a smallish Japanese island. Despite that and the fact that the whole video is in Japanese with no subtitle translations, my daughter and I sat enthralled throughout and wished it had gone on longer. I was captivated by her charm and friendliness to the people she met. The few bits of playing that she does are excellent despite being completely ad hoc - or perhaps because of it. The play out over the credits is heartbreakingly beautiful, it is available as the second track on her "Flower Of Eurasia" album but is accompanied there while on the DVD she is alone with her Pipa and to my mind it works far better. Ting Ting is a delightful person and an exceptional talent. The world needs to see and hear more of her.
