今この瞬間ですら、恋しく思う時が来る。 原作は「月刊コミックガーデン」/WEBコミックサイト「MAGCOMI」にて連載、黒乃奈々絵による『PEACE MAKER 鐵』が劇場アニメ化! アニメーション制作を『シュタインズ・ゲート』シリーズや『Re:ゼロから始める異世界生活』で名を馳せるWHITE FOXが手がける。監督を数多くの作品で演出を務めるきみやしげる、脚本を『曇天に笑う＜外伝＞』3部作のシリーズ構成などの梅原英司、キャラクターデザインを『六花の勇者』の小磯沙矢香が務める。 主演の市村鉄之助は、梶裕貴が青年期を、小林由美子が少年期を演じる! その他、中田譲治、斎賀みつき、櫻井孝宏をはじめ、うえだゆうじ、山口勝平、鳥海浩輔など劇場版アニメにふさわしい人気豪華キャストが集結! ――新撰組は、油小路事件を経て大きな傷を負いながらも、将軍・徳川慶喜に忠義を尽くす覚悟を決めようとしていた。そんな中、朝廷により徳川幕府の終了が宣言され、慶喜は大坂へ下る。新撰組も戦いに備え、伏見奉行所へ屯所を移すこととなった。慶応三年・・・幕末動乱の時代。新撰組隊士・市村鉄之助は、かつてより親しくしていた少女・沙夜を想いながらも、副長・土方歳三の小姓として、隊医で親友でもある山崎烝、兄の辰之助らと、新撰組として運命を共にしようとするが・・・。
