Awake 5

L'arc-en-ciel is one the best J-rock bands around and they prove it with every album they bring out! Even if this one is a bit old, I'm addicted to "Killing me"!

L'Arc~en~Ciel's BEST Album 5

This is a strong hyde album as he composes most pieces and his most beautiful ballad Hoshizora.(Starry Sky). This is my favorite L'Arc album along with HEART. I enjoy all tracks and you can play this whole album without skipping no tracks as they all add to the theme of this artistic album. I have the U.S. Version but I will soon buy the Japanese version because it's such a great album I want two! A Dark and Anti War-ish album at times. I feel like this is their most interesting and beautiful work.

A Good Mix for Laruku Fans 4

Awake is a mix of good (New World, Killing Me) and... not so good (As One, Ophelia). It's an album where hyde as the primary composer is quite apparent, especially in tracks like Ophelia and My Dear, which sound like they're ripped straight from one of hyde's solo albums. Laruku fans will want to pick it up, but new fans would probably be better off starting with one of the older albums and working their way up.

best shape ever 4

this is a great album. the new songs are just pop/rock tunes but l'arc can make it sound perfect. I miss the old sound mixes, but this is definetly a worth buying.

Take away their existence... 5

It's not my favorite L'Arc album, but it has many strong songs and is probably their most "polished" album to date. The band is definitely older & their sound is changing along with it. Pretty much the only things I don't like about AWAKE are: 1) Too many synthesizers 2) For once, it was Hyde (and not Ken) who wrote the majority of the songs & in that sense it almost felt like a Hyde-solo-in-progress. "Trust" by Tetsu and "Jyojyoushi" by Ken are phenomenal songs, I sort of felt like "My Dear" was a tad superficial/filler but "Hoshizora" is Hyde's masterpiece. Amazing album, as are all of L'Arc's albums. Give it a try!

Ahh awake... 5

I love this album. This is one of my favourites. And besides I'm sentimental about New World because it is the first L'arc en Ciel's PV I saw year ago (yes, I'm quite fresh fan of Laruku) on Viva (German Television, something like MTV) and in the middle of the song I...changed the channel (oh gosh they have shemale on vocal, I thought) - I was young and stupid. Every song on this album is GREAT but I hate twinkle twinkle, it's total crap (Ken don't hurt my ears anymore, will you?). Soon I will order "Tierra" and "Heavenly" - I still prefer Miss Hyde more :P.

Definitely keeps you AWAKE. 5

Amazing album by Laruku. It's absolute love! The melodies and songs were well thought of and the lyrics are fantastic! You can tell that these guys have definitely matured from their older stuff. ^____^ Definitely a must have for any Laruku fan. ^^

Another great album 5

One of my favourite album from the Band with smile. I particulary love the "hardest" title like "killing me" and "New world". But all songs are really good and fill me with energy.

Viva Laruku!!!

It's smile vol. II 4

a good work of this band, there are many bright moments on this one. although jiyu.. sounds a little bit out of time on the tracklisting. New world, as one, trust, lost heaven, are my favs. its a good way to enter into the j rock world

AWAKE woke me up 4

I admit that I have never been a fan of L'arc en Ciel, which is why I was so surprised that I've ended up liking AWAKE so much. 'New World' and 'Jojoushi' are just a few of the songs I like the best, but this album is one that I can listen to straight through without skipping a single song, which is rare. I recommend it for anyone who likes of j-pop or j-rock, whether they're L'arc fans or not.

Beautiful. Buy it. The piano solo in Ophelia almost made me stop breathing. Twinkle, Twinkle, was created entirely by Ken and sung by Hyde and damn they should do it more often. There's oboe in Jyojyoushi, and I don't know how anyone can pass up this combination of rock and orchestral music.

My first L'arc~en~Ciel cd, and I love it! I have a HYDE cd, and I really loved that too. But L'arc~en~Ciel has a different, yet good, sound from HYDE solo. HYDE has a great deep voice, although a little strained for the high notes. It has a variaty of sound, because no one person wrote all the songs. You can really tell that they work as a group, and it comes out very well. It makes me want to buy more of their work in the future. A must for Jrock lovers.
