Second Nature [Japan Bonus Track]

this is a fantastic old school sounding melodic hard rock cd that has all the elements of the early to mid 1980s here, lionheart did not do much for me way back in 1984 when i got there first record as i was much younger and into heavier metal at that time like (SAXON, MAIDEN, PRIEST, ACCEPT, TANK & MOST NWOBHM BANDS CIRCA 1978 TO 83) as well as the then new upcoming thrash sound i got into in 1983 regarding bands like RAVEN, VENOM, a band called METALLICA, & THE GERMAN BANDS LIKE HELLOWEEN, SODOM, RUNNING WILD, DESTRUCTION HELLHAMMER AS WELL AS PUNK & HARDCORE PUNK so my ears where not to kind to melodic hard rock way back then but im much older now and enjoy records that have this sound, also i LOVE the line up of STRATTON , NEWTON & EDWARDS AS I HAVE BEEN A BIG FAN OF CLIVE SINCE HIS WILD HORSES DAYS & I LOVED HIS STINT W/ UFO FROM 1991 THROUGH 1992, it is great to see him behind the kit again, lets put it this way in the 1990s if you enjoyed bands like PRAYING MANTAS, TEN, THUNDER, CTYSTAL BALL OR FREEDOM CALL YOU WILL LOVE THIS CD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i loved all the praying mantas albums from 1990 through the most recent one two years ago in 2015 and that does not include the great 45s from 1980 to 1982 as well as the time tells no lies record from 1981, if you liked that stuff THIS JAPAN CD IS FOR YOU, great artwork for the inlay to something else sadly bands do not put much into anymore unless you are SAXON OR IRON MAIDEN, great stuff maybe if they do the lionheart lps from the mid 80s that bombed and i did not care for much back then i would get them as japan shm papersleeve remasters as i like most have mellowed w/ age..............but still love the oldschool heavy stuff to..........

I was very surprised how good this album is, Guitar work switches from melodic to fast and dirty depending on the track with superb solo's. The singer Lee Small has one of the best voices I have heard in a long time, crystal clear with a lovely soulful tone and hits the high notes with ease. The songs are all brilliant and sound like the Lionheart of old but with a great production, they vary from slow melodic instrumental to epic Ballads onto fast hard rock all with wonderful backing vocals. you will not be dissapointed
