脚本家として『女優霊』『リング』でJ (ジャパニーズ)ホラーというジャンルを確立させた高橋洋。前監督作『旧支配者のキャロル』 (2011年)から6年ぶりに監督、脚本を務めた最新作は、かつてないスタイルの心霊恐怖映画となった。『霊的ボリシェヴィキ』という衝撃的なタイトルは、神道霊学研究家の武田崇元氏が70年代に提起して以降、ディープ・オカルトの世界でのみ密かに語り継がれた言葉。20年以上前からこの言葉に取り憑かれた高橋は、商業ベースでの実現を試みながら果たせず、今回、最もオリジナルの構想に近い形で、映画による"霊的革命"を実現へと導いた。高橋が一貫して追求してきた"恐怖映画"の要素と、前作『旧支配者のキャロル』からさらに深化した"人間ドラマ"が組み合わさり、新たなる恐怖の地平が切り拓かれる! 『こんな夜更けにバナナかよ』『悪人』『誰も知らない』等の韓英恵をはじめ、長宗我部陽子、南谷朝子、伊藤洋三郎など実力派キャストが集結。 ――集音マイクがそこかしこに仕掛けられた奇妙な施設。呼び集められたのは、かつて"あの世に触れた"ことがあるという"ゲスト"と呼ばれる男女たちだった。その中の一人、由紀子には、幼い頃"神隠し"に遭遇した過去があった。強すぎる霊気により一切のデジタル機器が通用しないこの場所で、静かにアナログのテープが回り始める。やがてテープに記録されてゆくのは、人間の領域を踏み越える禁断の心霊実験だった・・・。
