自由奔放な日本人の女のコと女優を目指すロシア人の女のコの友情を超えた奇妙な愛情関係を描く。『アイコ十六歳』『クレヴァニ、愛のトンネル』などの今関あきよし監督作品。主演の宮島沙絵が本作で2017年に第12回ロサンゼルス映画祭最優秀新人賞受賞。――ライカ、自分でそう名乗る日本人の女のコ。最愛の母を亡くした自分の境遇を、旧ソ連の宇宙計画でスプートニク2号に乗せられた悲劇のライカ犬に重ね合わせている。同時に、いつか自分も宇宙へ行きたいという憧れも抱いている。ユーリャ、有名な女優になるためにオーディションを受け続けるロシア人の女のコ。なかなか結果が出ず、焦りは募る一方だ。モスクワのとある片隅でライカと出会い、放っておけなくて自分のアパートに連れてきてから、2人の共同生活がはじまる。ユーリャは天真爛漫と孤独が背中合わせのライカのことが興味深く、どんどん好きになっていく。2人だけの夢のような日々。料理を一緒に作ったり、笑い合ったり。しかし、1人の男性の出現でその関係は微妙なズレを生み出し始め、さらに大きな事件をきっかけに一変していく。思いが強すぎるゆえに傷つけ合ってしまう2人の女性の葛藤を、美しいモスクワの街の中に描き出す。
