The film depicts a young man with an intractable disease, his love for his mother, and his challenge to achieve his dreams. --Ricardo, a young man living in a welfare facility in Sweden, was born with an intractable disease called stenosis, a deformed cranial condition. He has no father, and his mother is mentally ill and lives in another institution. Unable to see his mother and subject to discrimination and curiosity because of his appearance, Ricardo finds solace in a mysterious imaginary world where he is transformed into a giant. Ricardo's life is changed forever when he encounters petanque, a ball game of French origin. Ricardo has shown unexpected talent in this sport, and he and Roland, a pleasant middle-aged man, pair up to compete in the forthcoming Nordic Championships. He believes that if he wins the Nordic Championships, he will be able to cheer up his mother and one day they will be able to live together.
