S/mileage have their first album under their belts, and already have another single out. This is a very cute single in all respects, from the cover to the songs and the music video. "Short Cut" is a very S/mileage-type song - upbeat and, like I said before, cute. At first I wasn't too sure about the song, but it has grown on me and now I can't stop listening to it. The regular edition B-side, "Otome Pasta ni Kandou" - a remake of a song originally by Tanpopo - isn't quite to my liking. I don't like the instrumental arrangement at all, and the vocals don't suit the song in my opinion. The original was far, far better and I don't think S/mileage stood a chance against Tanpopo. I don't like this song choice. I'm also getting rather tired of S/mileage being made to cover old Hello! Project B-sides - why should they? They deserve new songs. The instrumental of "Short Cut" is also a nice listen. In summary, it is a good single, but I think the Limited Edition B-side (Panya-san no Arbeit) is a far better choice.
