      Better version than Regular 4

I like this single rather a lot. It's yet more S/mileage cuteness, with another upbeat tune to back it up. The A-side, "Short Cut" itself, is pop at its cutest. Honestly. It might take a few listens to get used to, but once you are used to it you will almost certainly come to like it. The limited edition B-side, "Panya-san no Arbeit", is also upbeat and cute. Not overly so, though. It is also a MUCH better song than S/mileage's cover of "Otome Pasta ni Kandou", used as the regular edition's B-side. The vocals sound much better and more fitting, and the song has a nice instrumental arrangement - plus it's not just an old Hello! Project cover, as far as I'm aware, as the theme has been for S/mileage's B-sides lately. It makes a nice change - more fresh, than revisiting old numbers the poor girls can't hope to match or outdo. The music video included on the DVD, the Dance Shot version of "Short Cut", works well. It's a little strangely themed - the girls dancing in party dresses on the surface of the moon, in front of a backdrop of Space and the Earth - but pleasant. And, this being S/mileage, cute. Overall it is a very good single, definitely worth the purchase.
