        A Transition Album 4

With her third record, YUKI starts to nudge her music toward a more accessible, mainstream pop sound. The record is roughly split between her new, shiny pop sound, and the retro rock sound that dominated her first two records (some, like the single "Hello Goodbye," try to balance between the two styles). Other singles include the ballad "Home Sweet Home" (which was used as a Naruto theme) and the pure pop of "Joy." Additionally, frequent Puffy collaborator Andy Sturmer returns with "Air Wave" -- he had previously written "Prism" on YUKI's first album. The album is a little different from "Prismic" and "Commune," but it's still very good -- the songs are all catchy, and YUKI has always been a wonderful singer. That alone is enough to get this album.

        Joy? 4

I'm writing this review after having enjoyed her latest CD WAVE since it was released. My all time favourite album of hers would be Commune. I find it difficult to rate albums, generally I find I listen to them again and again and enjoy them. However this one I don't really listen to as often as I should. I don't think there's anything much wrong with it, but I can't find anything outstanding either. I like quite a few individual songs, but I like commune and wave better for holding me in. I listen to this about as much as prismic, her first album. I guess I feel the same way about both. They're good, but they don't pull me in. Whatever.
