人種の坩堝でもあるロサンゼルス。あらゆる野心や創造的な夢がうずまく都市です。ここで活躍するロサンゼルス・パーカッション・クァルテットは、これまでにも意欲的なアルバムをリリースしてきましたが、今作でも5人の作曲家による独創的な作品を演奏しています。ビャルナソンの「Qui Tollis=世の罪を除きたもう主よ」は爆発的なバスドラムの唸りが印象的な作品。自然の風景を音に取り込むのが巧みなソルヴァルドスドッティルの「アウラ」は砂の嵐と風のチャイム。マッキントッシュの「I Hold the Lion's Paw=私はライオンの足を握る」では長編小説のように劇的に音が変化していきます。郷愁たっぷりのギターの旋律が印象的なセローンの「メモリー・パレス」、メタリックな響きがまるで宝石の輝きのようなライドの「フィア=リリース」と、普段耳にすることのない珍しい音響が、高音質で迫力たっぷりに迫ります。録音年: 2016年3月20-24日
