I found SID kind of by accident, but fell in love with them. This album showcases what's great about them. There's Izon no Niwa, my favorite song of theirs, which is balanced by upbeat songs like Alibi and Sweet? Mao's vocals are always awesome. I give this album a 5.
SID -usualy Hard heavey screaming took a diffrent approuch and whent to the Jazz side of things im not a Jazz fan and prefer their earlyer work but they did have 2 or 3 good songs on here and my Uncle liked it so much he bought it from me. Not one of Sids best works but if your a fan it would be interesting to lisin to this new approuch at Jazz
First off, if you're expecting heavy rock, screaming and loudness, don't even bother getting this CD. Now, Hoshi no Miyako is SID's 2nd full album and I was definitely pleased and surprised by how relaxing and jazzy the songs were compared to Renai their debut album. Each song had their own touches that never failed to keep me interested and their own rythmn and catchy tunes with their own unique songs. Sono Daisho, Alibi and Toge no Neko are the most jazziest songs and my personal favorites; they'll have you addicted for weeks. Pop songs like Sweet? and Ringo Ame contributed well to the album; slower songs like Binetsu, Caramel and Aikagi didn't bore me but made me feel eased. Izon no Niwa, Yell and Hoshi no Miyako has me hooked with it's wonderful songs as if a unique species if that made since. This CD is less rock, but is will not be disappoint those who are warned before hand and love it. A must buy!
If you're looking for dark, screamy Japanese rock - hit the back button and keep on shopping. If you're looking for music that'll touch your heart with one the most talented bands in music today, you've come to the right place. While many of SID's fans swear by their previous and debut album, Renai (which I also highly recommend), Hoshi no Miyako is nothing to brush off. From the catchy Ringo Ame and its hint of spanish guitar, to the dance floor tune of Sweet?, to the outstanding vocals in Toge to Neko and Binetsu, this is not a CD to miss.
