2004年に"ANIMEX1200"シリーズでCD化されたオリジナル・サウンドトラックをベースに、円谷プロ25周年の15枚組CDに収録された劇伴音楽等の素材から、音源をリマスター収録した決定盤。サントラには未収録だった主題歌ももちろん収録。 音楽は日本ジャズの巨匠・前田憲男氏。ストリングスを一切使わず、木管・金管とリズムセクションだけという当時の劇伴音楽としては特殊な編成でレコーディングされ、組曲形式でLPレコード化され普通ならストリングスを使うであろう宇宙の幽玄な描写や、メロディ背後のオブリガートなども木管や金管で表現した、特徴的な当時のオリジナル・サウンドトラック。アルバムのクライマックス、ボレロによる主題歌の変奏は圧巻!
