Idols and Eurobeat, Oh My
Jun 30,2006
Welcome back to the CDJapan blog, where I'm sure you've already noticed that things are always under construction! Those of you wondering how exactly one adds comments to the articles will be glad to see that we've now added a "Comments" link to the bottom of every article on the blog top page. You can now click there to go straight to the comment entry section of the blog. The system team is also working to get the blog comments into reverse order for readability.

Enough about the blog--I'm here today to talk to about some of the new features we've added to the site. I'll avoid rehashing what's in the official introduction, so you should probably check that out first if you haven't yet:

A New Face To CDJapan

-Idols-
The biggest unannounced addition to our site is the brand new "Idols" section (possibly not safe for work or young). Originally part of the "Special Interests" page, the idol page ended up outgrowing it's place next to educational films and Japanese pro-wrestling videos. You can now access the idols page by using the tab menu at the top of our site (the link is sandwiched between "Special Interests" and "Collector's Den").

The new idols page includes the same features as all of our other pages: daily top-sellers ranking, release info by date, and ranked new and future releases sections. If our idol DVDs continue to increase in popularity, we may add special features at a later time.

We also have a "Men's DVD" page for the ladies.

-Jurassic 5 & Eurobeat!?-
Moving on, some of you may have noticed the new "Dance & Soul" section of our "Music" page. What you may not have noticed is that contents are a messy combination of Western hip-hop/R&B and the eurobeat/parapara/trance CDs. I'll talk about why this is the case in my next article. However, while both unintuitive and (hopefully very) temporary, the new "Dance & Soul" section does provide a place to see what the most popular releases in both of these categories.

So, Eurobeat fans now you have a place to see info on a popular genre we've previously been unable to properly address on CDJapan. R&B and hip-hop fans, on the other hand, hold on for just a little bit longer--we'll try to get the two genres separated out soon.

Well, that's all for this time, I'll be back next week to talk about how our new system works. In the meantime, check out a few of our new special features pages.

woot!
I like the update. Though it's a tad clumsy, it's nice to actually have all eurobeat releases linked somehow. Prior to this it has been blind luck (or checking websites everyday) to see if there was a new album out...

The new H!P and Johnnys sections are appreciated to. I hope you can expand this in the future for other 'groups' (eg Avex's Girls Box [or what's left of it...]).

Yeah, we've been trying to figure out what to do with the eurobeat section for a while.

Which reminds me, we still don't have a place for the eurobeat future releases. For the time being I'll try listing them on the bottom half of the "recently addeded" section of the "Dance & Soul" page. We don't have any data right now so I'll add them as soon as we get some new releases.

Update!

We have three new eurobeat/trance/parapara CDs which I've now added to the bottom of the "Soul & Dance" "Recently Added" section. I'm not sure if you're interested in trance covers of Queen songs, but at least now there should be an obvious place to find info about new releases.

For the time being, keep an eye out for anything in the "Recently Added" section from the artist "V.A." (various artists) becuase most of the eurobeat/trance/parapara CDs are listed as such.
