Yngwie Malmsteen - New Album and More!

Guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen returns in full force with the advanced Japanese release of a new full-length album chock full of Japan-only special features. And to commemorate Yngwie's first release in three years we also have six new SHM-CD cardboard sleeve reissues of Malmsteen's previously released works.

Not yet officially announced abroad, Yngwie Malmsteen's still untitled new album will be coming to Japan on August 6, 2008. This time around Yngwie welcomes the overwhelming new line-up of former Judas Priest vocalist Tim "Ripper" Owens on vocals, Bjorn Englen on bass, Michael Troy on keyboards, and Patrik Johansson on drums. Yngwie himself appears to be pleased with the vocals, and describes the drums as the heaviest he's ever heard.

The Japanese version of the album is available in two varieties, regular and limited edition. While both versions of the album come out first in Japan, the limited edition also features one additional Japan-only bonus track (subject to change), the high-fidelity, Japan-only SHM-CD format (fully compatible with standard CD players), and bonus DVD with footage of Yngwie discussing the songs on the album!

Out simultaneously is the Yngwie J. Malmsteen SHM-CD cardboard sleeve reissue series spanning six classics from his career. Each album features the same SHM-CD formatting as the limited edition of the new album plus deluxe cardboard sleeve replica of the original album artwork. The series includes "Yngwie J. Malmsteen's Rising Force," "Marching Out," "Trilogy," "Odyssey," "Trial By Fire: Live in Leningrad," and "Eclipse."
