Masuda's singing is hit and miss 4

I bought this album for the Uematsu track, and in that regard, wasn't disappointed. However, the rest of the album is composed of pop-ish remixes of well-known classical tunes, like Beethoven's Pathetique sonata, or Caccini's Ave Maria. Masuda is a classically trained soprano, so her singing is dead on pitch. Unfortuneately, she's not very well acquainted with the English language, and most of the tracks are in English . . . much intelligibility results. The other main fault the album has is the poor quality of some of the arrangements. Many of them use electronic drum kits, giving them the feel of bad musak (see "Lovers in the Sky" for the worst offense). However, this album is very listenable. Masuda's voice is smooth and flowing, and the familiar classical songs are pleasing to the ear. It makes very nice relaxing background music.
