Totally Hot +2 [Cardboard Sleeve (mini LP)] [SHM-CD] [Limited Release]

I was a little boy who had just seen and been completely enthralled by Olivia Newton-John's performance in Grease (both on film & on LP). She could do no wrong in my eyes. I loved "A Little More Love" on the radio. Now, 33 years later, I finally own this "sonically-brilliant" mini-LP remaster. I'd never heard the entire album as a kid, and was extremely-pleased to hear it now. It's somewhat dated (in the best way...the '70s were great), but timeless, and is a Classic IMO. Every song is good (Olivia's own contributions are quality as well; the woman can write songs); Farrar's production is excellent, as usual; and Ms. Newton-John can belt out songs with great range...more than meets the eye. This was my 1st CD Japan purchase, and it has made me a constant return visitor. The SHM-CD format is a godsend for audiophiles like us, who want quality, deluxe, completist versions of our beloved albums. Honestly, this brand new format should be the standard by which all classic/contemporary LPs should be released. Jewel case/cardboard releases are still the best ways for music to be released/marketed to consumers; certainly the most artistically-pleasing. The CD has never been dead to me: I've collected more CD albums over the last 10 years than ever before; and these new HD formats have only increased my devotion to it. There's no waffling here regarding whether this is a worth-it purchase. However, a reduction in price would make sales of these CDs go "through the roof".I can't wait for what's next in this format from Universal Japan. Enjoy the great, quality sounds of the late 1970s (Disco-Pop, Country, Pop-Rock) on this memorable LP.

This SHM CD edition of 'Totally Hot' is the best it's ever looked and sounded. The MLPS artwork is utterly faithful to the original 1978 vinyl LP and the sound quality is clear, detailed and very involving. It also has 2 bonus tracks included, Olivia's live version of 'Love Is Alive' and the 12" mix of her 'Totally Hot' single from 1979. Both, as far as I know, have never appeared on CD before which gives another reason to snap up this latest version of one of Olivia's best albums.
