Plot: Thirty-five years ago, an astonishing incident shook the whole country. It was a theatrical crime unparalleled in the history of Japanese crime, involving a mysterious group of criminals who repeatedly committed a number of heinous crimes, including kidnapping, ransom demands, and poisoning, while at the same time provoking the police and the mass media, attracting the attention of the public before disappearing without a trace. Newspaper reporter Eiji Akutsu is chosen to join a special project team to investigate this unsolved case, which has already been put off by the statute of limitations, and spends his days covering the case. Meanwhile, Shunya Sone, who runs a tailor shop in Kyoto, is living happily with his family of three until the day he finds an old cassette tape among his father's belongings.
