neolog bounce! bounce! 4

For her first mini album, hellcat does not dissapoint. At first I was quite skeptical of what I was getting in the mail because of the tracklisting. But to my surprise the album sounds very put together and flows very well.

To start out we have "Hear the Alarm?", which is a great opening track, strong and shows what is going to be in the rest of the album. Her vocals are actually quite good in here as well, which gave me a surprise because of the fact that I thought she was only ok with vocals based off of "Like This." But it is a good dance track and made me want to listen to the rest of album.

Then we head into "Like This", in which I thought her voice could be better, but it is a very good track none the less. Quite addictive, and can stand by itself. Not the best track off the album, but still good. The one thing that gets me that I notice through the whole album is the repetivness of the whole thing. But it works here so its ok.

The next song is "Bad Girl", which is the strongest in my own opinion, of the whole album. I really like how this is strong dance song, and how good her vocals sound in this song. It does not sound like she has to strain herself at all, and the song itself is something so inventive, that I just want to listen to it over and over again.

We have another pv song next "Criminal", which is more rock than she sang before, but it works again. She strains to sing, but in the song still holds up against "Bad Girl" and "Like This". Even though it is more rock than any other song on the album, there is still the techno and dance in the background, which I love.

The next song is more RnB influenced, and almost sounds as if it has Latin flavor in it, "No, no, no". Even though it is my least favorite song, she reaches those low notes with hardly any problem and it sounds good. Another fast song, but it just didn't get me as the other songs did, just kind of average compared to the others I guess.

One my favorite songs on the album, "SEX" is up next. Yes this song is quite intersting, but I love it because of infectious rhythm it has. Even if the lyrics are cheesy, it is still a great song which actually has a rapper it in, and flows well. Better than "No, no, no."

Everyone has to have a ballad, and "Lost" is that for Meisa. I like this, because it is not too slow and just makes me want to listen to it when I am sad or having a rough day. It is also is one of the only songs that do not really have sexual inuendos in it, which is great. A excellent ballad, better than others I have heard.

The closing song is probably the best for a closing, "THIS IS CRAZY". It is infectious and makes you want to get up and dance. It kind of reminds me ok Koda Kumi's "Driving" in a way. But a great closing song, it makes you want to listen to the album again.

All in all, I could have done without "No, no, no", but everything else was great. For her first album, this surely beats out anything released at that time, and is a great starting point. This is one artist I will continue to support because she has great potential and I cannot wait to see what else she does.
