2007年4月15日から11月まで全7回放送予定、NHKスペシャル「新シルクロード 激動の大地をゆく」のオリジナル・サウンドトラック。これは2005年に放送され大評判となった「新シルクロード」の続編。2005年のシリーズは「中国編」だったのに対し、2007年ヴァージョンでは中国より西=中央アジア、南ロシア、中近東を旅して激動の現在と歴史を掘り下げる。テーマ曲には、ヨーヨー・マ&ザ・シルクロード・アンサンブルによる2004年録音音源(2005年番組放送時もオンエア)と、映像をドラマティックに盛り上げる、気鋭のコンポーザー: 吉田潔氏書き下ろし最新作を収録したミニ・アルバム。
