日本が誇る大人気映画シリーズ『男はつらいよ』、最新作! スクリーンに帰ってきた寅さんが、日本中に笑顔と元気を届ける! 日本中から愛される"フーテンの寅"こと、車寅次郎を演じるのは言わずもがな、名優・渥美清。4Kデジタル修復された『男はつらいよ』のシリーズ映像と共に、ついに寅さんがスクリーンに蘇った。そして、倍賞千恵子、吉岡秀隆、前田吟、浅丘ルリ子などシリーズお馴染みのキャスト再集結が実現。さらに、後藤久美子が本作で23年ぶりの女優カムバックを果たした。映画のオープニングには桑田佳祐が登場し、主題歌「男はつらいよ」を歌い上げる。――小説家の満男(吉岡秀隆)は中学3年生の娘と二人暮らし。妻の七回忌の法要で柴又の実家を久々に訪れ、母・さくら(倍賞千恵子)、父・博(前田吟)、昔から付き合いのある人々と昔話に花を咲かす。それは、騒々しくて楽しかった、伯父・寅次郎(渥美清)との日々。いつも味方でいてくれた寅さんに長い間会えず、大人になった満男の心には大きな穴が空いていた。そんなある日、書店で行ったサイン会で満男は、初恋の人・イズミ(後藤久美子)と偶然再会する。二人は寅さんの昔の恋人・リリー(浅丘ルリ子)のもとを訪れるが、そこでリリーから、寅さんの思いがけない過去を聞かされ・・・。
