neolog TOUR08: The Rose Trims Again 4

Their first, all-new, public release in years, and Dir en Grey surely did not disappoint. Firstly, the sound quality of this feature is positively perfect: Kyo's highs and lows, growls and shrieks, gasps and chants, low mutterings and soaring echoes are presented with great clarity and definition. Though the camera angles get a bit sporadic, they mostly portray the footage in a rewarding way; namely, they centre around each member rather equally, with the exception of Kyo, who is almost always favored.

The first disc, in and of itself, offers more updated versions of DEG's most popular set-list attributes, and are all rather stunning (even though most of them have been seen before) -- many of the performances are unrivaled in terms of previously published recordings. The only personal complaints I have are the yet to be polished Toguro, and a somewhat lackluster Dozing Green. The live of undecided was absolutely recording-quality, contrarily, and is a marked favorite. A very well-documented, epic concert.

The second disc featured behind the scenes, as well as concert footage from the memorable Shankara-breathing- concert. It was definitely interesting to see the stage be made up from scratch. The lives included were awesome indeed: The first official recordings of Stuck Man, Bugaboo, and Reiketsu na Riseba were included, all performed with renewed vigor and energy on part of Dir en Grey. Once again, the only complaint would be Toguro though, this time, due to Kyo's worn throat. Overall, an amazing look into the decidedly memorable Shankara-breathing- concert.

The third disc was helpful for those who rip the audio from their own DVDs, and also provided some unseen tracks.

Overall, a phenomenal release.

neolog The most awesome concert DVD I've watched! 5

It's been ages since I've seen their latest concerts. Not that I've seen them in the flesh yet. That would be even more awesome! A person from a country so J-music deprived only has the internet after all. I'm so glad I've come across CD Japan. I buy all my Dir en grey goodies there. hehe.

Dir en grey always amaze me with their perplexity and exceptionality. The Rose Trims Again is an amazing addition to one's fondness to this band. If you are really touched by their music and what they do, then you will always love everything about them. It's the first time in my life that I've broken the Law of Diminishing Return. That law doesn't even exist with this band. And as a fan, I am very very proud of them.

I know they will continue to make good music and touch the hearts of the people who support them. I hope that one day, I can see them live and scream with Kyo's voice. Watching this DVD has already made me lose calories (seriously). My neck also hurts the next day after I've watched this DVD. hehe... causative agent: headbanging. XD even if you've not really been there in the concert, you will feel like you are, and you can't help but sing along and scream too. That is why, if ever you watch this, have a pillow with you and see to it you have your TV to the maximum volume!!

Apart from Disc 1, you'll be amazed with Disc 2. Bonus Footage is all it says on the covers... I've screamed with joy at what was ACTUALLY contained in that Disc. The concert that I've longed to see was showed to me right in front of the telly. I was so happy. The set list was awesome too.

Disc 3 is an amazing piece too. It contains audio selections from the October 18, 2008 Shinkiba Studio Coast concert (from Disc 1) and some from the Osaka-jo Hall concert. Any fan will definitely love this. But in the end, you'd still want more, right? hehe, just keep on supporting the five of them and their music. :)

Their best live release in years! 5

Their best live release since TOUR04 THE CODE OF VULGAR[ism]! After so many fanclub DVDs, we're finally treated to an official one once again!

Odd is it though since all their previous live DVDs have always been tied to an album like VULGAR and Withering to death. THE MARROW OF A BONE never got one though, but this is about as close as one can get I guess. One striking thing from the start is that most of the old songs have gone through an UROBOROS make-over as you can just imagine how impatient they must be to finally get to perform their new material.

The whole concert is perfect, all old songs are very exciting to hear in this updated way of performing them. The first part of the encore is beautiful with two songs performed in unplugged style and the remaining is just insane. The band is in top notch and Kyo starts to add lots of screams and growling to songs where there was nothing before instead of skipping parts like he did in the past. Incredible! And the level of energy they put out makes you as a viewer exhausted, there's no other band like them!

Disc 2 was secretive, only saying "Bonus Content", but boy was it quite the bonus! Not only did they show the preparations that went into the URUBOROS -breathing- concert at Osaka Jo-hall, they even included 7 songs from the actual concert! Now that's quite the treat!

Disc 3 is a CD with selections from the first disc which is quite odd as they could've recorded some audio only from some other show from the same tour. At least the other half of the disc contain songs from UROBOROS -breathing- which all sound great.

All in all, their best live release in years and the concert alone is a must have! All the bonus stuff only makes a solid release even better! Highly recommended!

Love it 5

After seeing the setlist for this and seen thats its mainly tracks from 'Marrow of a Bone' I honestly didnt think it'll be all that great. But Dir en grey actually make the album sound amazing live xD. The last few tracks played is my favourite part of the dvd, they are some real classics and I wish that the band would play some of their older tracks like that outside of Japan for once :(.
The main highlight of this release for me has to be the 2nd disc for one reason... 'ain't afraid to die' live! Now that is a song I would die to see live here in the UK.
The cd is pretty cool, eventhough it wouldve been better if they didnt include tracks from disc 1 :/ as I was hoping to hear more from the Osaka-jo Hall live.

Overall its a great set and a must for any Dir en grey fan ^__^.

Surerly worth it 5

I personally think this surpassed the withers and withers 2005 DVD.
The sound of the concert was very strong and clear.
Well worth it for any (Modern) Dir en Grey fan (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the older dir en grey.).
All in all, well worth it.

I love it!! 5

I love it!! DIR EN GREY is my favorite band!!

I already have the material!
yesterday came to my country, I love kyo in dissabled complexes, I love his voice, the performances of the members are awesome *u*

sugoi !! *u*

A must buy! 5

I'm so glad I got to pre-order the Limited Edition DVD. I had my doubts if I could save enough money for it, but I tried my best and I must say it is worth every penny! Everything about the DVD is amazing. The 2nd disc just blew me away completely. What can I say? Dir en grey, for me, is number one and I've never been disappointed with them and their music. Not once. This is a must get for any fan who is "toriko" to their music.

Japan's finest, DIR EN GREY 5

In the tour, The Rose Trims Again, DIR EN GREY performs many songs from my personal favorite album, THE MARROW OF A BONE, and introduction of songs from the new album, UROBOROS, with few old songs. Suprisingly, many about 4-5 ballad/soft songs are performed in one setting with a lot of hard core songs that DIR EN GREY is known for.
You will see DIR EN GREY's fine performance and a great audience. Having known DIR EN GREY long time a go, it's hard for me to listen to anyother band. DIR EN GREY is simply the Japan's finest.

I liked it 5

I'll be honest:

Disc 1 took about 4 songs from the beginning to get me to start liking it. I don't know it just didn't attract my attention, but the Disc 1 was good. I liked how Kyo had the mask in Hydra -666-.

Disc 2 was ok. I really only liked the performance of Ain't Afraid To Die the most off of it. Got to see the band use their old instruments in that.

Disc 3 was good. I don't understand why they took some of disc 1 and put it into audio though. I wish Vinushka, Ware, and Inconvenient Ideal were on this but they were not.

All in all I give it a 5/5.

For those who don't like my review don't be fussy it's my opinion on the DVD and don't be a nut rider about it with me.

Yay Pre Release Comment

Why are so many people complaining about the price...? It's two DVDs + a full length CD, not to mention conversion rates or a sales tax... it's like people forget these obvious things in favor of venting needlessly.

Truthfully I'm looking forward to this release, regardless of the cost. It'll be nice to add to my Dir en grey DVD collection and I'm really excited to see (or rather "hear") what their 08 Osaka-Jo all was like.

WHAT!? Pre Release Comment
