2010年、2011年の『schola (スコラ) 坂本龍一 音楽の学校』の番組内で演奏した楽曲の中からセレクトして収録クラシックからロック、民族音楽まであらゆるジャンルの音楽を学術的に掘り下げることを目的に、坂本龍一がライフワークとして取り組んでいるCDシリーズ"schola"。CDの企画が立ち上がった当初から検討されてきたこのシリーズのTV番組化が2010年からNHK Eテレでスタートした『schola (スコラ) 坂本龍一 音楽の学校』。NHKでは異例の毎回高視聴率の番組。初めて坂本龍一がTV番組のレギュラー出演したこの番組の最大の見どころは学生さんとのワークショップでの講義とともに、番組で演奏される楽曲の数々 (ジャンルごとに豪華なゲストを迎え、夢の共演)。今作品はその演奏の数々を番組オンエア時、編集・カットされたものも完全演奏という形で2010年、2011年の『schola (スコラ) 坂本龍一 音楽の学校』の番組内で演奏した楽曲の中からセレクトして収録。カーボンオフセット仕様。
