Prince of Tennis Character Album: E=mc2

Most Prince of Tennis CDs are pretty hit-and-miss. Some of the voice actors, like Yuu Shirota or Kazuki Kato, for example, have great vocal range. However, some like Kiyasu Kohei, don't have that great of a singing voice. Those character CDs have a noticeable lack of vocal and singing tracks. However, I was surprised to find that although Tsuda Kenjiro has a wonderful singing voice, there are a scant amount of tracks that feature him singing. This is a dissapointment. I would say the strongest track is "Michi", which is very light and melodic, and probably has the best production out of all the tracks on this album. Being an Inui fan, this CD was a must for me, and I listen to it pretty frequently. I'd like to see more Inui-centric albums in the future and hear more of Mr. Tsuda's singing voice.

I was rather disappointed, I was hoping to hear more song tracks than there were. The mini-drama "Juice" was a nice touch though. The three songs that are on the album are touching, and show off Mr. Tsuda's singing voice very well. I don't really consider some of the tracks "songs," but they do have him speaking over the music of the tracks, such as in "Running Boy," "Pi," and "Saraba". And "Running Boy" would have been more appropriate for a Kaido album, I think as he's always the one we see running. I'm not sure what the thinking here was.

I think this CD would please a wide-range of people, especially those who like either Inui or Tsuda Kenjirou. There quite a bit of random things thrown in: those who like Inui as the 'nerd' should hear his Pi track, those who like Inui or Tsuda-san singing have 3 tracks to choose from, those who like Inui as the juice-making sadist has the JUICE track, and so forth. If you're able to get the bonus CD, there's a fun game you can play too! Lots of guest characters come in both in the original CD and the bonus one. Very well worth the price.
