主人公は、歴史とその流れの中で生きた人々である―― 大佛次郎原作による傑作史伝『天皇の世紀』 テレビ映画版全13話、DVD-BOXにて一挙刊行!! 原作は、大佛次郎が朝日新聞紙上に連載した未完の長編史伝。幕末から明治維新までの動乱の時代に生きた人々の姿を描いた名作として現在も読み継がれており、2010年には文藝春秋より文庫版、全12巻が刊行されている。1971年、朝日放送は開局20周年記念番組として、この史伝を1話完結全13話のテレビ映画として映像化した。動乱の時代に生き、斃れた沢山の偶像を重厚かつ革新的なタッチで描いた超話題作である。監督は山本薩夫、今井正、蔵原惟繕、三隅研次、篠田正浩、佐藤純彌、吉村公三郎ら、日本映画界を代表する巨匠たち。脚本は早坂暁、新藤兼人ら。映画・演劇人のトップスターが総出演。音楽は武満徹。ナレーターは滝沢修。BOX特典ブックレット封入。
