acid android live 2003

Nine Inch Nails without the commercial potential. That's what I think after watching this live DVD by Acid Android. It's industrial rock and difficult to listen to or get into sometimes. Picture and sound are good, though the stage is rather dark most of the time. Yukihiro is a better drummer than he is a vocalist. His voice reminds me of Hide's sometimes, a little growly and squeaky, as if he's trying to hide he's not really a singer at all. His guitarplay isn't Hide either, only playing several chords in certain songs. Why does he even need to play guitar? The band has three guitarists beside Yukihiro (I didn't spot a bassist, though I could be wrong...I -did- hear basslines) and a drummer. No live keyboards, though. At least, none of stage. Yuki's guitar looks cool, though, so I guess that's something. Um, the DVD isn't very long either. The main concert at Shibuya AX is about 8 songs long, and they filled the DVD with additional live material filmed at other places, which aren't bad at all, but aren't the smooth quality of the main concert either. It could've been longer, but oh well...I don't know how long I could listen to difficult music like this, anyway. It's good for when you're in the mood for something different. Don't expect anything like L'arc-en-Ciel, though. I do admire Yukihiro does something entirely different with this side-project, because really, do we need L'arc-en-Ciel ~deux~?
