The Best Of Crush 40 / Super Sonic Songs

A brilliant album from the world's best videogame band. Contains 16 tracks of pure AWESOMENESS! 3 have been remixed with new sounds, 1 has been remastered, 3 are new songs and the other 9 are songs from the Sonic and NASCAR Arcade games. Jun Senoue and Johnny Gioeli show us that they kickass along with musicians such as: Mark Schulman Katsuji Toru Kawamura Naoto Shiabata Hirotsugu Homma Yutaka Minobe Takeshi Taneda Bob Burch and David Braun Well done Jun and Johnny for a FANTASTIC CD.

as much as i'd like to give this a 5 star rating, it simply isn't worth the full whack... as awesome as Crush 40 are this CD lacks new content, out of the 16 tracks on the CD only 2 are new releases the rest of the CD is filled with the popular sonic themes such as live & learn & Open your heart, however there are a few cover songs sung by them, Un-Gravitify being one of them (original artist Cashell) but its slow and boring compared the techno riven original. it sounds bad so far, but they have reworked some previous songs, and used a hyphen system to tell you whats reworked and whats new content * New Mix for This Release **Previously Unreleased, New Recording For this Release 1. Is It You** - new release overall its a good album, compiled with the best tracks from sonic (although.. thats what true blue and True Colors are for...right?)its a nice little CD, the case and art are a little...simple, but their previous album was the same so no grudge there. in a nutshell, awesome band, not so awesome CD, we want more new stuff guys! sick of hearing your old work every album! Definitely an album to have if you're a long-time Crush 40 fan, and you don't want to have to hunt around for their first album (Back when they were Sons of Angels). Their three new tracks, two of which aren't technically new, are the main attractions here: "Un-gravitify", originally featured in Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity (Sonic Riders: Shooting Star Story for Japanese Sonic fans) is still as good as the original if not made better by Jun Senoue's guitars and Johnny Gioeli's voice. "Fire Woman", actually a cover of a song by The Cult, is a departure from some of Crush 40's "formulaic" Sonic songs. "Is It You", the only original Crush 40 song on the album, is sort of a rock ballad, but very nice. Three other songs: "Revvin' Up", "Into the Wind" and "Watch Me Fly..." were all featured on Crush 40's first album, "Thrill of the Feel", back when they were Sons of Angels, making music for NASCAR Arcade. They were also subsequently featured on the band's next album, the self-titled album "Crush 40". A word of warning: Don't go into this album expecting the "new mixes" to be that great; they're not. The one glaring problem with the album is that the new mixes are actually very, very minor adjustments to the original songs, usually just new effects thrown in for (Bad) flavor. "Open Your Heart" is the biggest culprit, featuring a ton of vocal effects that really aren't necessary. Overall, a good album for any fan of Sonic the Hedgehog, Crush 40 or someone who likes to rock.
