    Good but not perfect 3

The first time I listened DIM, I was so afraid to listen it after reading tons of negative reviews I almost cried when I realized that this was not so horrible. But I have listened it only two to three times because it doesn't transcended me so much and it bored me, I admit. In fact, I regret that this album needs to be heard in a specific atmosphere. When I'm in the subway, it grows not granny in the nettles, it bothers me quite quickly and I'll listen to something else. But I made the discovery of the century, falling on this CD when I was plunged into darkness, lying on my bed with the iPod on the ears. My vision has completely changed: it really transported me. Each song has its place, even the small interludes, and it almost gives shivers down my back. If taken as it is, it seems insipid, bland and uninteresting. But deep in the right mood, it is really good (although some tracks really annoy me in both cases). And this is probably the biggest worries of this CD because having to dive into a certain mood to listen to an album, it's a bit boring. So, I'm pretty mixed, but for me the album is not rubbish.

    Awesome album 5

I'm a little late in reviewing this album, but here it goes. DIM is by far my favourite album from Gazette. I was wondering if they could come up with something even better than Stacked Rubbish and DIM delivered. Maybe because this album's sonority is more of my taste than the previous one. I was highly enthusiastic when it came in the mail (only 2 days after it was released!) and immediately proceeded to see what came with the limited edition. The cover is probably the most awesome cover I ever saw in an album. Really. I can't get enough of staring at it. It was really a great idea to make it that away. Concerning the booklet, I wasn't expecting it to have that kind of pictures, but I can understand the idea behind it. It's not a completely necessary thing, but is a nice addition nonetheless The dvd was - besides the music - my favourite part. The Invisible Wall has a great PV, probably their best until now. And I really enjoyed the documentary in which we could see their everyday work at the studio while recording the album. As far as the album itself is concerned, I see no flaws to point at. I like all songs and my favourites are (excluding the singles): Nakigahara, DIM SCENE, THE INVISIBLE WALL and A MOTH UNDER THE SKIN. Once again, it was a great work by Gazette and a must have for every fan. It was well worth the price and you always have the regular edition :).

    DIM Delivers! 4

I've been listening to this CD every day in my car. The music is very accessible. Although somewhat experimental at times, it's not nearly as challenging as some of STACKED RUBBISH was (no rapping, for instance). I must admit I'm not that crazy about the too-poppy IN THE MIDDLE OF CHAOS or the don't-care-about-melody OGRE. LEECH has been slightly remixed, while GUREN is sporting a remix and some new vocals; both of them sound great. 13STAIRS[-]1 is a winner as well....although it's not entirely appropriate for polite company! And the track I really can't get enough of is the exquisitely tragic NAKIGAHARA - epic and awesome! The booklet contains scenery photographs that are evocative of "DIM". It is completely not necessary for the appreciation of the music. I enjoyed the DVD a lot, though. I think the PV for THE INVISIBLE WALL is one of the best that they have ever made. And even though we only get to see their backs in the documentary, you do get a sense of what it's like to be in the studio and the work that went into creating the album. Every section is clearly labelled so you don't need to know Japanese to understand what's going on. If only every CD came with a documentary like this!
