Pocket monsters is taking a step in the right direction. Thanks to the 3DS the series can finally render a 3D map and battle field. New battle mechanics, and a new pokemon type add more depth and open more possibilities for trainers. Mega evolution gives some classic Pokemon an edge in battle. I like the new Pokemon in this series, more than Black and White. Like all Pokemon games, it is all about the battle opportunities which is why the games need something strong for the post story. There are plenty of opportunities to continue to battles but raising Pokemon does take time, especially if you want a dynamic and all-around roster. The online features have improved a lot and online battle is cool, even the official competitions are great. For myself I tend to stick the battle facilities and go for new high score.
