This is the first season of the Unlimited Blade Works series and covers episode 0: Prologue all the way to episode 12: The Final Decision. It is one of the most beautifully animated shows I have ever seen, this shines through especially in fight scenes, although the quality never drops during any other parts of the story. This series is a follow up to the amazing Fate Zero, and this series does its best in making you feel that connection with a mainly serious tone, yet it allows for some refreshing moments of comedy and light-heartedness. Furthermore it has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard, with some old pieces returning from the original game in a new and vibrant manner. The story can be somewhat slow so if you like a slower pace then you're golden, if not it certainly does not impede the experience regardless as this slower pace allows you to appreciate not only the faithfulness to the visual novel but also the story itself for all newcomers. Overall whether you are a fan of the original novel or the previous Fate animes, or even a total newcomer this series is a must buy.
