Around the world / Kandata

I've come to the decision that every song on this CD is worth listening to, and more than once at that. Around the World- very happy and upbeat. Funny enough, the PV for this song was filmed/released right after they returned from their first visit to the US. Kandata- This song shows the 'upbeat melancholy' sound featured in Days. You don't know whether it's happy or sad, but you'll find yourself singing it, either way. Shakys- Another wonderful song shoved to the B-track position. It bounces along, rounding out the trio. Proof that a song doesn't have to be a single to rock.

As far as singles go, this one has to be FLOW's best. Herein are three of the best songs FLOW has written to date. If this is an indication of the direction they're heading (and Colors and Answers support this conjecture), then the band still has the best ahead of them. Around the World is lively but not-too-chaotic, inspirational and contemplative but never lagging, and impeccably performed. It seems like Kohshi and Keigo have never worked so well together before. It's really a perfect choice for lead song. And what do you know, it even has a guitar solo! Kandata is my favorite FLOW song. It's in what I like to call their (now infamous) "upbeat melancholy" style, ala Days, Garden, or Nostalgia. It's the kind of song that'll leave you wanting to rock out and burst into tears at the same time. The backing vocals add a lot to the track, and the guitar is just lovely. As usual, the harmonies are fantastic too. Finally comes the B-side, Shakys, to cheer you up again, and let you rock out and dance all over the place once more (it's hard to believe that the band doomed this song to the fate of B-sides, given how amazing it is). It's got a few different parts but all are equally great.

This is a great single, though of all, I love the fun vibe of Shaky's the best. Kandata's got a great mellow vibe to it and Around the world is a fun main single for this one. Definitely worth checking out as always.
