I got this one recently and although I find Boris' sound to be relatively unpolished at times, I quite like this album. It's different from the minimalistic drone albums such as Amplifier Worship, Feedbacker and Absolutego. Quite honestly, I don't like drone. It's boring and seemingly only serves to vibrate your body until you get sick. This album is much more metal, rather doomy and with punk rock influences. Heavy Friends, Korosu, Rattlesnake, Death Valley, Koei, Kane (The Bell Tower Of A Sign), 1970... all great songs, but as I said, a bit "raw" sounding. Great band, quite different from the visual kei or progressive rock scenes of Japan. A shame Boris isn't that well-known in their own country.

Description
[Machine Translation] BORIS is a band with a "Heavy Rock" style that has been revered by musicians as a standard bearer for cutting-edge J-Rock with its huge sound and spitting beats, and has maintained solid recognition in the U.S. as well. The band has a huge drum set with gongs on its back, slender arms that freely manipulate a huge double-tiered orange amp, and a super-heavy bass that shoots out from a double-necked bass. While the band has established the foundation of rock music that stands on the newest scene, it also presents works full of ambient delicacy. In addition, the band is also known for its self-produced, freely developed pop style that is inversely proportional to its sound, including the production of stylish artwork novelties and videos. However, it is also a well-known fact that, despite their own background, they have always stood out for their stoicism. This time, they are releasing their first new album in the new century. It is a slow and deliberate process. The finished album is presented as the simplest, most unclouded work that dispels the negative misconceptions that have surrounded the band. As is the case with today's rock bands that have been active for a long time, the current of the times changes the interpretation. It seems that BORIS is about to have the opportunity to do the same, as young and frank interpretations usher in a new era. The title of this album is exactly their style, "Heavy Rocks". Let's enjoy this album first, and see how the response to their music changes.

Description in Japanese
Heavy Rocks / BORIS
